Alton Towers Resort have today officially announced Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! as the name of the new for 2026 junior coaster, opening in CBeebies Land this Spring.

Today’s announcement of the name of what is noted to be the world’s-first Bluey-themed coaster has also seen the release of a new visual to provide an insight into what guests can expect. Pictured are Bluey and her younger sister, Bingo riding the coaster dressed as The Grannies, Janet and Rita, bringing their limitless energy and fun to the ride.

On board the coaster, guests can expect to get up to some grannies-themed mischief through Bluey’s backyard, whisking over gentle dips, around turns, and through colourful trees, flowers, and playful surprises. There will also be the opportunity to spot Bluey’s House in the interactive queue, take selfies, and enjoy fun play activities before riding.

“Here Come the Grannies!” refers to a fan-favourite episode from the popular animated TV show, where Bluey and Bingo play dress-up as the mischievous Grannies, known for their chaotic driving, dance moves – including “flossing” – and causing mischief.

Alongside the new coaster and existing Bluey experiences, including the meet-and-greet with Mum (Chilli), Dad (Bandit), Bluey and Bingo and live stage show within Big Fun Showtime, Alton Towers has also announced plans to introduce additional Bluey-themed hotel rooms at the CBeebies Land Hotel. This follows on from the first Bluey rooms and suites opening at the hotel in 2024.

Howard Ebison, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort said:

We can’t wait to welcome the mischievous and limitless energy of the Grannies to the resort when we open the Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! this spring. Alongside even more bespoke Bluey-themed hotel rooms, we’re excited for the fans to enjoy the new attraction and immerse themselves in the mayhem of the Grannies.”

Natasha Spence, Events Director, Live Entertainment at BBC Studios, said:

“We know that whenever the Grannies come out to play, it is a fan-favourite moment for those that love the show. We are excited that the energy of these much-loved characters is being brought to life in Bluey’s first-ever coaster at Alton Towers Resort – home to CBeebies Land.”

Today’s announcement follows the reveal in December 2024 that a new junior coaster was planned for CBeebies Land, which was then confirmed to be themed to Bluey last September. More details, including an exact opening date, for this new coaster are set to be released by Alton Towers in due course.
