Today Alton Towers made the decision to cease operation due to the adverse weather conditions currently affecting the theme park.

An evacuation procedure took place across the park at approximately 2:30pm to safely escort all guests from the theme park.

The park attempted to open this morning with limited attractions operating for any guests who had braved the elements to be at the park today. However, as conditions worsened the park took the decision to close its gates.
This is the second time this month that the park has been forced to shut due to the poor weather conditions, with the last time being on the 4th April.
It is currently believed that once again several trees have fallen due to the weather, this time around Cloud Cuckoo Land and the Charlie and The Chocolate Factory attraction. The park have also been felling some trees around the site themselves in an attempt to minimize any damage and risks.
The hotels, waterpark, and spa have remained unaffected by these closures, and the theme park is expected to reopen tomorrow providing the weather improves.
TowersTimes will be on hand to bring you all the latest updates from around the Resort as they come.
