Alton Towers Resort’s Water Park may eventually be rebranded with a LEGO theme, a Merlin water park designer has said.

Bill Volbrecht is the LEGO water park designer for Merlin, and is involved in the LEGO water park set to open at LEGOLAND California in summer 2010. With a similar project expected in Malaysia for 2012, LEGO ‘hopes to turn the concept into a global brand‘.

The expansion of the California Carlsbad kiddie park – said to be costing $15 million – includes twin water-slide towers, a lazy river, toddler water play areas, as well as 20 squirting & spraying Lego characters.

Volbrecht has hinted that the water park may appear in Merlin Entertainment’s (LEGO’s parent company) other parks if proven successful; also referring specifically to the existing water parks at the Alton Towers Resort, and Gardaland, which ‘might be rebranded with a LEGO theme‘.
