As part of National Science Week, schools from across the country descended on Alton Towers Resort in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for The World’s Largest Science Lesson.

At 10am the students gathered in the dedicated arena ready to take part in two experiments measuring students’ heart rates as they listen to different sounds and meet some of the famous Theme Park characters. 927 students took part, setting an all new record which was officially witnessed and verified by Guinness World Records officials.

In addition to this exciting record attempt, the park has also been running a number of additional shows all this week, each of which explores some of the science behind the park’s famous rides. Students can learn more about forces, and the effect a 30 metre drop, gravity, and speeds of 85 kilometres an hour can have on your body.

TowersTimes would like to congratulate the Alton Towers Resort on their brand new world record.
