With the summer season at its peak, work shows no sign of slowing down on Secret Weapon 8. We take a look at the latest developments on the site of Alton Towers Resort’s new wooden rollercoaster.

Having completed the majority of the structural work on the station and maintenance building, work is now underway on the building for the pre-show, with the metal supports having been erected giving us a clear indication of the shape of the building.

Work has continued on the turn in front of the main theming structure, with it becoming clear that the turn will be significantly banked suggesting the ride will have a reasonable amount of pace at this point in the circuit.

Wooden bents have also been added to the turn towards the centre of the site for a section of the layout which looks like it will hug quite close to the ground. Just to the side of this turn, a small wooden building has been constructed which will become a queue line shop.

A wooden, building like structure has also appeared at the base of the main theming feature, however at this stage it is unclear what this is for. Elsewhere on the site, work is ongoing on the lift hill as the structure moves towards being made ready to receive the metal track.
