Introduced in the early 90s, the Leap Frog Fountains are now an iconic feature of Towers Street, being one of the first and last things that guests see upon their arrival and departure from the Alton Towers theme park. More recent years have seen the Frog Fountains receive seasonal costumes and theming in order to mark both special events and the opening of new attractions.
Pirate Takeover
The Frog Fountains were once again dressed in an array of wonderful pirate costumes during February Half Term 2026, although this year saw the addition of a selection of tentacles, which we believe originally featured in the former Darkest Depths scare attraction!
Alton After Dark
With no new attraction opening for the start of the 2026 season, the Frog Fountains were instead on hand to assist with lighting up the theme park for Alton After Dark, each being dressed in a high-vis and hard hat. Theming and lighting features were also added to their pond.
Easter
Dressed in Easter bonnets and surrounded by colourful eggs of all sizes, the Frog Fountains helped celebrate Easter 2026 at Alton Towers Resort.
Pirate Takeover
The Frog Fountains were back in their pirate costumes, having seemingly been enlisted into the crew of the “Jolly Hopper” with some new theming touches for February Half Term 2025.
Toxicator Opening
To mark the opening of Toxicator, the Frog Fountains were once more dressed in their Phalanx uniforms, but now accompanied by additional floating green Toxicator barrels.
Scarefest
The Frog Fountains were dressed in their witches hats and capes once again for Scarefest 2025, alongside the addition of some new theming to the pond in the form of an overflowing cauldron and spell book.
Christmas
The Frog Fountains joined in the Christmas festivities again in 2025 with Santa hats and baubles, along with the addition of a snow globe on a lily pad of its own.
Pirate Takeover
During February Half Term 2024, the Frog Fountains were suitably dressed in their own pirate costumes that included a jacket and pirate hat, and for some even a beard!
Nemesis Reborn Opening
To mark the opening of Nemesis Reborn at the start of the main 2024 season, the Frog Fountains were dressed in Phalanx uniforms complete with operative name tags.
Oktoberfest
The Frog Fountains got in on the Oktoberfest action for the first time in 2024, being dressed in event-appropriate outfits.
Scarefest
For Scarefest 2024, the Frog Fountains received suitably-spooky outfits in the form of witches hats and capes.
Fireworks – Phalanx Expo
With Fireworks 2024 adopting the theme of the Phalanx Expo, the Frog Fountains were back in their Phalanx uniforms, as seen at the start of the season.
Christmas
The Frog Fountains joined in the Christmas festivities with Santa hats and baubles.
