In 2007 we followed the construction of two extraordinary Alton Towers themed golf courses which are now situated alongside Splash Landings Hotel.

For the start of Towers Treats and Trails we’re at the hotels to see the Extraordinary Golf construction. It can be seen that the foundations for the entrance building have now been laid.

The entrance building for Extraordinary Golf is coming on at a pace and the holes are starting to take shape too. Elsewhere on the site, foundations for another hole was in the process of being poured. There is also some work being carried out between the Monorail and the golf course to provide access from the main car park to the new attraction.

The entrance building is really starting to take shape now and over the top you can see a Nemesis creature peeking through. Indeed, most of the tall theming for the East Course is now in place, allowing us to get a glimpse at how the course will look when finished. The Squirrel Nutty Hole is also starting to take shape nicely – there will be a hole in the middle of the tree when it’s finished. The last proper hole of the East Course will be the Driving school hole. Over on the West Course, the only hole to be seen is that for Duel, although the lake is also taking shape. Meanwhile in the storage area, large roles of fake turf wait to be laid, and the Hex and Rita theming wait to be installed. The only other theming on site is the Windmill for the farm hole.

Now that the season is underway, a banner has appeared advertising the new attraction. Work continues on the entrance building. Work has now begun on the Flume hole in the East Course, while the Driving School hole is approaching completion.

The entrance plaza is now nearly completed and the East Course is almost ready to open to the public.
