Joining the queue outside the Sorting Office, guests eventually made their way inside where they would wait to board one of Postman Pat’s vans. Whilst waiting there was a range of interactive tasks throughout the queue-line to help keep little ones occupied. Unfortunately, Postman Pat’s parcels had got all mixed up and it was down to guests to help set things right and make sure the right parcels get delivered to the village’s residents.
After receiving their instructions, guests set off on their mission to deliver the parcels to the residents of Greendale. Taking control of the van, guests would travel through Greendale and have to use their problem solving skills to make sure they selected the right parcel for the right resident, using the buttons on the dashboard of the van. Guests could also take control of the lights and horn of the van making it a fully interactive experience.
Postman Pat Parcel Post was installed on the former site of Old MacDonald’s Tractor Ride for the area’s retheme to CBeebies Land in May 2014. Although it uses a similar ride system and follows a similar route to its predecessor, the ride hardware for Old MacDonald’s Tractor Ride was completely removed and replaced during the retheme.
In December 2024, Alton Towers announced that they had submitted a planning application for the addition of a new junior coaster to CBeebies Land, due to open in 2026. It wasn’t until the planning documents themselves emerged in January 2025 that it was confirmed that this new coaster would replace Postman Pat Parcel Post.
With less than two weeks’ notice, it was confirmed via an update to the Alton Towers website that Postman Pat Parcel Post would close from Tuesday 3rd June 2025. Following the ride’s closure, construction hoarding was quickly erected around the site, with the ride hardware and theming removed within just a few weeks.
