When Mr Bloom headed off on holiday, leaving his neighbour Mr Blossom in charge of his nursery, he needed guests’ help to feed Compo and sing the Veggies to sleep inside the magical shed!

Guests entered the queue line, which was a living and working garden comprising of a range of different plants and flowers, from runner beans to lavender. Upon approaching the front of the queue, guests were batched into groups and welcomed to the allotments by Mr Bloom’s neighbour, Mr Blossom. Guests would then be led through a gate, into a fenced off area where Mr Blossom had a general chat with the group, including the ‘Tiddlers’, whilst waiting to enter the main part of the attraction.

When ready, guests were taken through the door into Mr. Bloom’s allotment itself. Another of his neighbours explained that Mr Bloom was on holiday and had asked for help to keep an eye on everything, with even a phone call from Mr. Bloom himself, checking in to make sure guests knew how to feed Compo if he got hungry! When the phone call finished, Compo (a large composting machine) made a grumbling sound indicating that he was hungry, with it then up to the Tiddlers to help find items to feed him, learning about recycling and sustainability at the same time.

Once Compo was fed and happy, guests would head into Mr Bloom’s shed to meet the Veggies, who had been enjoying all the rides in CBeebies Land. However, the Wee McGregors were too small to get on any of the rides, and so it was up to guests to first of all help find the Wee McGregors hiding around the shed, and then, with Compo’s help, make them a ride of their own to enjoy. Once done, Mr Bloom would call to check how everyone was getting on and that everyone had been having a good time. After that, all that remained was to put the Veggies to bed before it was time to leave the allotment.

Located towards the back of CBeebies Land, next to Tree Fu Tom Training Camp, Mr Bloom’s Allotment was the first fixed attraction to be located in this area. Previously, this area was home to some of the paddocks of Old MacDonald’s Farmyard and housed animals including chickens, guinea pigs and rabbits when they weren’t part of Furry Friends in the middle of the farmyard. When first introduced to the resort in 2007, these were the first animals to call the resort home since the foot and mouth crisis of 2002 which saw the resort make the controversial decision to cull their animals to avoid restrictions being placed upon the park.

The area closed towards the end of the 2013 season to make way for the new family development, CBeebies Land. Sadly the animals were not to have a place in this new area meaning they were to be moved to a range of new homes over the course of the closed season.

Mr Bloom’s Allotment operated for the final time during the 2021 season, with the space repurposed into Andy’s Adventure Dinosaur Dig, a similarly interactive attraction, for the 2022 season.
