If you’ve ever been to a theme park in the USA, or selected parks in mainland Europe, you may well know that there are often options available to advance purchase food and drink. Often, these are coupled with discounts and allow guests, particularly families, to manage the cost of their day out better.

Alton Towers Resort have now joined these parks and are offering a variety of options for guests, although it remains to be seen whether they are popular – as in the case of Alton, they have also bundled in a visit to Extraordinary Golf and discounts at retail stores in the park.

The standard Adult package costs £15.00, which includes one hot drink, a refillable drinks capsule for the day (usual price £6.00), one main meal, one sweet treat, 20% off at retail stores and a voucher to play Extraordinary Golf. For an additional £2.00, guests can eat at either of the parks ‘premium’ restaurants; Explorers in Katanga Canyon or Woodcutters in Fountain Square.

Child prices are also available, at £5.00 per day – which would seem very reasonable, given it includes a voucher for Extraordinary Golf.

It remains to be seen whether these prove popular, as £15.00 may still seem like a high price to pay, when if you only wish to eat lunch at the park, this would cost you considerably less – with main meal deals starting from around £5 in the parks cheaper outlets.
