The opening hours for the Water Park at Alton Towers Resort are set for massive cuts from the New Year.
It seems, most weekdays in the main theme park season will see 11:00-17:00 opening (previously 10:00-18:00) and Fridays and Saturdays will be 10:00-18:00 (previously 10:00-20:00). Sundays see a very limited 10:00-16:00 opening (previously 10:00-18:00). Some days early in the theme park season and out of season are cut even further to 11:00 – 16:00 (previously 10:00 – 18:00).
Only in the summer holiday period is there any sort of improvement, with hours now 10:00-21:00 (previously 10:00-20:00).
With such major cuts, this will surely weaken the appeal of a Water Park annual pass and stop people from visiting the attraction after a busy day on the theme park. The Water Park will be open for up to 15 hours per week less in 2010 than in 2009, based on the new opening hours which were published today.
The reasons behind such cuts are unclear, although it will obviously save thousands of pounds per year in staffing and running costs.
