As has become customary since Scarefest’s birth in 2007, the Towers have been closed to guests and they will not re-open until after the 2009 season. With just over 6 weeks to go, the parks entertainments team have already started transforming the Gothic masterpiece into a scare maze which will open from 17th October to 1st November. Theming, props, lighting and special effects will all be constructed for an entirely new attraction this year entitled “Terror of the Towers: What Lies Within”.

Work on The Boiler House and Field of 1000 Screams, located nearer the resort hotels/car parks, is also expected at some stage, although this does not normally take place until later in September. Duel:Live will require less work, and Duel itself is not likely to be closed at any stage – keep an eye out on the Alton Towers website for the latest!

All the Scare attractions at Alton Towers are expected to be refreshed for the 2009 event – details so far are sketchy, but expect a Mass Breakout from The Boiler House, a Sinister Force in The Towers and Zombie Attacks at Altonville Farm along with the usual more family friendly offerings across the resort, and rides in the dark too!

Keep your eyes peeled on TowersTimes as we head towards the Spooktacular Season – Alton’s best time of year!
