As news and rumours appear to be flowing faster than ever around the Alton Towers resort, be it concerning new rollercoasters, departing old rides, re-themes or aquariums – one thing that is set in stone is Scarefest – the parks biggest hallowe’en event ever which begins on Friday, 17th October. Please bear in mind, some of this article could be considered as a minor spoiler – so do not read on if you do not want to know anything at all.

Work is well underway now across the resort, and we’re here to give you the lowdown.

On the Theme Park
The grassed areas on Towers Street have now been cordoned off with rather nice looking rope, ready for theming to be put out in the coming days. Loads of pumpkins and characters are set to be making their way onto the street soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Music has been heard blasting from inside the Towers ruins, as final preparations get underway for the chilling Bloodfeast Banquet that is Terror of the Towers. Expect a number of key differences this season, which are said to make the master’s house scarier than ever!

Work has also been taking place inside the Haunted House. Expect Duel to be considerably different, as a number of old scenes from the original ride have been lit up and fixed for the first time in years. There’s also changes to lighting inside the ride and of course, live action will be part of the experience during the event itself.

Aside from that, there’s not much else happening on the theme park yet – but it’ll be starting to trickle out soon – so we’ll be keeping an eye out!

At the Resort
Work on the resort’s newest Hallowe’en attraction has been underway for a few days now. The marquee that will be home to the Boiler House scare maze is ready to go, with some maze already inside. Work on the Field of 1000 Screams is still yet to begin, although with 12 days left, I am sure they will have enough time.

Theming is now beginning to go out in the two hotels, with a lot of custom theming rumoured to be making its way out for this Scarefest event!
