A new rollercoaster opened at Alton Towers recently, as Alton Bear got its very own version of the “big four”. The bottom end of Towers Trading is now home to a wooden re-creation of Air, Nemesis, Oblivion and Rita complete with lighting and ride audio. Alton Bear, who has become a mascot for the park almost by default, can now enjoy assuming the position on Air, and plummetting down a vertical drop into Oblivion for the very first time.

In other news, the Scarefest Hearse has appeared at the bottom of Towers Street, with just over 3 months to go until the Halloween event begins. The friendly Halloween characters are back along with the new logo and information on the event dates.

The Monorail Train has also returned to action after a couple of weeks downtime, and can now be found online taking guests between the car parks/resort hotels and the theme park entrance plaza. This has also been joined by the latest themed train, The Celebration Train, styled upon the suite at the Alton Towers Hotel.

The park trialled its 7pm ride close on Saturday 5th July and are set to repeat the affair on Saturday 12th July before the extended closes begin in earnest from 19th July daily until 1st September. With a queue for the Monorail continuing until 8.15pm, it seems it’s a wise move for the park.
