Younger guests can bounce up and down high above Cloud Cuckoo Land on the Frog Hopper, a perfect ride for those not yet tall enough to face the park’s most thrilling attractions.
After queuing for a short while, six guests will be allowed to take their seats on the ride’s gondola, with a single lap bar across the full-width of the gondola being lowered once they have. Once the ride sequence begins the gondola will be raised and lowered at different rates on the brightly coloured column, which is topped by an equally colourful frog.
At the end of the ride, the gondola will be slowly lowered back to the ground before the lap bar is raised, and guests are free to leave and explore the rest of Cloud Cuckoo Land.
At the end of the 1998 season, the short-lived Nickelodeon Outta Control closed for the final time. This left Cred Street lacking in attractions during the 1999 season, and so the park introduced Frog Hopper mid-season to try and plug this gap.
With it being a last minute addition, the ride was in its “off the line” state when it was installed and completely devoid of theming for ten years until 2009, when Cred Street became Cloud Cuckoo Land. The ride received a much needed paint job finally bringing it in line with the surrounding area.
The ride was relocated to the bottom of Towers Street during the resort’s 2014 Christmas Event, as part of the family-orientated line-up, before being moved back to its usual location in January.
Following the closure of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – The Ride, Twirling Toadstool and Ice Age: The 4D Experience that corner of Cloud Cuckoo Land was left feeling rather quiet for the 2017 season, so Frog Hopper was relocated to in front of the Cloud Cuckoo Land Theatre in early April.
