JANUARY 12TH 2003 : HOTEL CHANGES NAME Alton Towers have had to change the name of the new Hotel which was known as Calypso Springs, until the name was rejected by a third party. Now it is likely that the new hotel will be known as the Splash Landings Hotel and the water park will be known as Cariba Creek.
JANUARY 17TH 2003 : RIDE PASSES FOR HOTEL GUESTS Staying in the Alton Towers hotel offers numerous benefits including entry to the water park from June 2003, ride passes for certain rides and priority seats at shows.
MARCH 14TH 2003 : WOODEN ROLLERCOASTER 2005
Alton Towers have applied for planning permission, for what is very likely to be there next roller coaster. Assuming the planning application is successful; Alton will be home to a new Wooden Roller coaster for ether the 2004 or 2005 season.
APRIL 5TH 2003 : ALTON REOPENS FOR THE 2003 SEASON
Alton Towers have now reopened for the 2003 season; the park boasts two new rides, Duel: The Haunted House Strikes Back and Ribena Berry Bish Bash. Barney has been replaced in Cred Street with the Tweenies. Two food outlets have also been re-themed, Witches Kitchen is now Zombie Bites and Frier Tucks is now known as Eastern Express. Also there is a new enhanced video show in the 3D Cinema!
JUNE 5TH 2003 : NEW HOTEL AND WATER PARK OPEN, BUT UNFINISHED!
Alton Towers Splash Landings hotel, with the joining Cariba Creek water park opened its doors on June 1st, but not everything has gone to plan. The Alton Towers management have told us bad weather is to blame for the project failing to be finished for opening day.
JULY 11TH 2003 : NEW FAMILY ROLLERCOASTER - 2004
2004 will see the addition of a brand new family roller coaster in Adventureland.
The finished layout is not known at the moment. So far we know it is being made by the same manufacturer that made Winjas at Phantasialand, this ride will be outside and themed around a giant pinball machine.
SEPTEMBER 10TH 2003 : FIREWORKS AND LASER SPECTACULAR
Be sure to visit for the Halloween festivity which includes 'The Terror of the Towers Bloodfest Banquet' which is to be chilling attraction and not for the faint hearted. Also 'The Halloween Circus on Ice'. Preparation has now begun. The Fireworks and Laser Spectacular will be taking place from late October to the beginning of November, read the press release here...
OCTOBER 18TH 2003: HALLOWEEN FESTIVITIES!
The Halloween festivities have now started! Many festive decorations can be found around the park! Expect to see spooky characters lurking around corners! Don’t miss Tower of Terror this year; there’s a huge improvement from last year! There were suspicions that Alton would charge £2 to visit this attraction, but due to advertisements earlier in the year, Alton was forced to allow guests to visit this attraction inclusive of the entrance fee! Make the most of it, this is sure to be a pay-per-visit attraction this time next year!.
NOVEMBER 13TH 2003: TOWERSTIMES EXCLUSIVE: LOG FLUME REFURB FOR 2004!
Towerstimes exclusively reveals the second attraction for 2004, this ride has been in the park for a long time! 2004 will see the Log Flume emerging fresh and frothy with a complete make over. Out go the rustic log boats and in come funky bath tubs to reinforce the theme “bath time with attitude!” Rubber ducks, taps, bath plugs and of course showers feature heavily in the theming around the ride’s water flume.
