Alton Towers announces their Family Feedback Forum for 2008, following a similar style to the 2007 enthusiast Customer Council but aimed at gaining valuable family input to the park.

Splash Landings Monorail Train Comes Online
A newly refurbished monorail train took to the tracks at the Alton Towers Resort Saturday. The train takes a Splash Landings theme in line with the new golden resort branding. The design features wooden panels, pipes and lots of water as is to be found at the hotel. The other trains on the circuit will be given new themes over the course of the next two years.

Nuns are back in vogue at Alton Towers [updated]
After previously holding nun-themed Sound of Music events, the park has brought in Musical Ruth, a singing nun onboard a moving grand piano, to delight guests on Towers Street.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, it appears that Musical Ruth may have left the resort for other commitments now. Hopefully we'll be seeing similar quirky features at the park in the future.
The first week of the 2008 season at Alton Towers is nearly complete, and this years guests will get to try the brand new area, Mutiny Bay, with its pirate themed signature attraction, Battle Galleons. The park hopes that the area, along with a massive UK television advert campaign, can attract many more guests this year, during what is a slump in the wider economy.
Nemesis has bagged 6th best steel coaster in the world according to coaster enthusiasts around the world in the 2007 Mitch Hawker steel coaster poll. This indicates a drop of 3 places since last year. Click 'more' to read on...

Alton Towers Introduces Smoking Ban
The 2008 open season at Alton Towers is fast approaching, and Towers Times has learnt that the park will be imposing a ban on smoking throughout the park, in addition to the no-smoking policy already in place for queue lines.
March 15th brings the first day of the 2008 open season , along with the opening of Mutiny Bay, their brand new Pirate themed land. It also brings a World Record attempt, and you can take part!
Alton Towers once again is thrown back into silence as their second successful February opening comes to a close, and the short countdown to the start of the 2008 open season begins yet again. The main feature of the 2008 season is the brand new Pirate themed area Mutiny Bay which replaces the Medieval themed Merrie England.
February 21st 2008 :
Alton Towers Scarefest set for 2008 return!
The Alton Towers Halloween event, Scarefest, which made its debut at the close of the 2007 season has been confirmed to be making a return for the 2008 Halloween celebrations. The park has also confirmed the running dates for the popular event.
After some techincal issues with the ride, Nemesis has closed briefly, however Oblivion has opened as a replacement.
UPDATE: Nemesis has now reopened and due to the popularity of the event during the half term week, Hex will be opening this weekend to satisfy demand.
UPDATE 2: After closing again following Nemesis' reinstatement into the Hullabaloo lineup, Oblivion will be opening as an additional ride this weekend (23/24 Feb).
