March 19th 2002 : Broken down?

After Air was closed all day on Monday we decided to visit the park on Tuesday, just four days into the new season and guess what? The ride was not working at optimal, several small faults and delays eventually caused one station to go out of operation.

This was the main problem of the day, a broken bar which is part of the trains tilting mechanism pictured by Christopher H.

Air operatives tell guests that Air is not open.
The queue racks are empty
No train in sight.
The area is developing, with bark chippings put down. The entrance courtyard empty. Engineers work hard to resolve the problems.
The area around Air is empty. No one to be seen. The all of a sudden a train is at the bottom of the lift hill, but its not moving.
Crowds gather for the re-opening. The first train on the track since early in the morning. Still no riders though.
Riders finally back on Air at the end of the day The barrel roll. Turns out the problem in the right hand station was that a piece of the lifting bar snapped off, seen here on the floor.
Its up and running again. Queues build up Not again!
Oh no! it's stuck again : staff members go to comfort the stuck riders. And one train was stuck just as it left the station. An engineer / consign worker on top of the station track trying to sort things out.
Help! Help!!! After much advice from John Wardley and the engineers the ride opened again using one station for about 30minutes. A look at the moving model in the air shop.
Merchandising ATAF merchandise Mugs, hats and t-shirts
The area is still being transformed. The Edge games unit. The new Nemesis nosh.
The ride was closed for most of the day. Lets hope they sort things out!
