On October 17th spooks galore will descend on Alton Towers
for 2009's
Scarefest, featuring a whole heap of frightful fun for every
member of the family.
So assume the
position and prepare for a scare, as we take a look at what Alton
Towers has planned for the most hair-raising time of the year.
In the Park
Lurking deep within the gothic ruins of the Earl of
Shrewsbury's mansion lies Terror of the
Towers - What Lies Within,
where a terrifying force has taken control. The park is looking
for volunteers to investigate this latest evil activity,
and you are on the invitation list, if you dare descend into
this fearsome labyrinth.
But the Towers are not the only Victorian mansion coming alive
for Halloween, as the spooks are back, taking over the park's
Haunted House for Duel: Live! The Gremlins have been let
loose, disabling your blaster and leaving you at the mercy of the
spirits within, guaranteeing you the ride of your life. Might you
find out what happened to the wealthy family that once lived inside?
And
what
Halloween celebration would be complete without Skelvin, Phil,
Patch and Franklin, the park's mischievous Halloween Characters?
All through Scarefest they'll be roaming the park to provide fun and frights
for all the family. Elsewhere brave young souls will also be able to try for a prize or risk
a surprise by knocking on one of the Trick or Treat Doors,
with Millicent, Molly and naughty Meg. (Click

or Meet and Greet Times)
As ever the park will be transformed into a spook's playground
during the Scarefest including the Giant Pumpkins, which will be
found at various points around the park. New for this season,
Old MacDonald's Friendly Scarecrows have come to life and can
be found having some spooky fun all around his farmyard and Towers
Street. And of course closing later can mean only one thing,
the chance to ride some of your favourite Rides in the Dark.
In the Resort
Over in the Hotels, the management would like to thank guest for
helping them exorcise the spirits lurking within the resort's
maintenance areas last season. But now the doors of
The Boiler House are rattling once again - it seems that the
abandoned facility seemed far too tempting to be ignored by a pair
of escaped serial killers. That and it seems there's recently been a
breakout from a local asylum!!
Elsewhere in the hotels things are certain to go bump in the
night in the resort's Trick or Treat Rooms.
Check in to one of these specially
dedicated rooms and prepare for a night of family frights. Will Dad
get a forfeit? Will Mum be in for a pleasant surprise? One thing's
for sure there'll be plenty of fun for all.
Alongside the Alton
Towers Hotel it seems like it has been a lean year down at
Altonville Farm; whilst the corn has grown strong and high it looks
like no one has had chance to harvest it. Perhaps the hired help are
too busy enjoying Scarefest, however it may be wise to venture down
to these sedate pastures for Field of a Thousand Screams, and
make sure nothing is amiss out in the fields. After all who knows
what terrible secrets might be concealed within this maze of maize.
The Field of a Thousand Screams was
planted many months ago alongside the Alton Towers Hotel and now once
again dwarfs the shack that stands at the centre.
And once you've had
your fill of scares, there'll be no better way to relax then with an
evening of entertainment, with the all new Witches Show
in the Alton Towers Hotel. Meanwhile over at Splash Landings, one of
the park's friendly Halloween mascots has set up shop in Patch's
Pumpkin Hide-Out, ready to supply the entire resort with
pumpkins ready for the spookiest time of the year. Also for younger guests why not go on a
Ghost Hunt with Pirate Bill, to banish the ghouls before they
head off to bed, or alternatively why not join in with Ringo's
Spooktacular Celebration?
Alton Towers'
Scarefest is due to run
between
17th October and 1st November and with late night opening across the
resort, as darkness falls the walkthroughs in both the park and
hotels promise to become even more terrifying. For more
information and for Halloween fun and games, head over to the
official
Scarefest website... if you dare!
