Alton Towers is set to once again become the home of Halloween
in 2007, when they unleash their Scarefest upon an unwitting
public, inviting guests to be as scared as they dare!
After several seasons
of the Halloween celebrations being restricted to just the hotel
complex, this year the event will stretch right across the resort
with a host of spooky new attractions as well the return of several
favourites from years gone by.
So assume the
position and prepare for a scare, as we take a look at what Alton
Towers has planned for the most hair-raising time of the year.
In the Park
The big news in the park is the return of Terror of the
Towers (pictures),
where once again the master of the house has opened his
doors to allow guests to experience this terrifying maze deep
within the gothic ruins of the Towers. The master has laid on a
feast, but do you have stomach enough to attend?
Elsewhere the Haunted Hollow Live (pictures), promises to transform
the park's latest attraction into a spook-filled paradise, as it
comes alive with fear. Join the Haunted Hollow's resident
Gravedigger, as he guides you to Gloomy Wood along a short-cut that
is sure to leave even the most intrepid explorer trembling in their
boots.
Meanwhile younger spirits can head over to Cred Street which will be
transformed into a Pumpkin Patch Playground for the
Scarefest. Brave young souls will be able to try for a prize or risk
a surprise by knocking on one of the Trick or Treat Doors (pictures), or
if that's not their scene they can hang out with Skelvin, Phil,
Patch and Franklin, the park's mischievous Halloween Characters
(pictures).
Cred Street will also be home to the Pumpkin Patch, a new
indoor playground full of games and spooky goings-on, perfect for young and old
alike. And even the ATTV crowd will be getting in on the
action, presenting their very own Halloween Special (pictures) from the
Cred Street Theatre.
All
of this and the park will be open later into the evening so that the
fun and frights can continue into the night culminating with a
Fright Lights Show (pictures), which will fill Fountain Square with
eerie delights. And of course closing later can mean only one thing,
the chance to ride some of your favourite Rides in the Dark (pictures).
In the Resort
The
hotels are hoping to build upon last year's successful Halloween
antics by providing even more scares for their unsuspecting guests.
Room 13 will once again be open for business, a suite so
frightful that the Alton Towers Hotel only dare unbar its doors at
this most haunted time of the year.
Think you can escape to your own room? Think again, as the
hotels introduce their brand new Scare Rooms (pictures), where things
are certain to go bump in the night.
Check in to one of these specially
dedicated rooms and be prepared to be scared witless, as the ghosts
come a-knocking at all hours and the room service might just serve
up a Halloween night to remember.
Scare Rooms
Field of 1000 Screams
Those who prefer the
more sedate country life can head down to Altonville Farm, located
alongside the hotels. Having said that, there is nothing really
peaceful about these pastures as they are home to the Field of a
Thousand Screams (pictures), a maze of maize where nothing is as it seems
and the corn holds some terrible secrets.
And once you've had
your fill of scares, there'll be no better way to relax then with an
evening of entertainment, with the Dance with the Devil show
or the Monster Mash Party, an all singing, all dancing,
Halloween extravaganza.
On selected dates
hotel guests will also be able to visit the Long-Legged Beasties
in Splash Landings' very own Halloween Zoo,
where you will be invited to come face to face with all sorts of
little beasties, whether they creep and crawl or squirm and slither.
If you like your pets to be of the eight-legged variety this is
definitely the zoo for you!
Alton Towers'
Scarefest is due to run
between
13th October and 4th November and with late night opening across the
resort, as darkness falls the walkthroughs in both the park and
hotels promise to become even more terrifying. For more
information and for Halloween fun and games, head over to the
official
Scarefest website... if you dare!
