During the Easter of 2006, Alton Towers turned into a chocoholic’s paradise. From the 8th – 23rd April a chocolate volcano appeared at the bottom of Towers Street, erupting chocolate several times a day. A live chocolate themed show also took place in Chocolate Square (a renamed Fountain Square) alongside a whole host of other activities around the park. In the hotels there were chocolate dancers as well as a special Time-Out lounge!

Official Press Release:

CHOC AND SHOCK!
ALTON TOWERS GOES CHOCCY CRAZY THIS EASTER

Famous for satisfying the addictions of the adrenaline junkie, Alton Towers is looking to appeal to a different group of fanatics this Easter– chocoholics – as it transforms itself into Chocolate Towers! So get ready for the heady rush of combining the most chocilicious event with the shock and speed of some of the UK’s raciest rides!

For two weeks (8th – 23rd April), Choc-uvious, the world’s ONLY chocolate volcano, will be erupting twice daily, showering guests with over a ton of chocolate treats; there’ll be a whole variety box of games and activities for the kids, all related to the scrumptious sweet stuff! Our Chocolate Hosts and Hostesses are just desperate to get as chocolaty as possible as they mingle with the kids making mud pies, cake decorating and choco-wrestling!

The newly formed Chocoholic Follies – our larger than life show girls (think Roly Poly’s!) who have a passion for pralines and a fondness for fondants, will be displaying their ample talents throughout the day and into the evening. Performances will take place in the newly named Cocoa Street and at the Alton Towers Chocolate Box Hotel! From the chocolate wrapping around the entrances to the park and hotels, to the giant swirly sweets hanging from trees, lamp posts and reception desks, guests will be left in no doubt that Chocolate Towers is the altar for serious chocolate worship!

So come along and fall in chocolate – we promise you won’t go home empty handed! Event runs from 8th to 23rd April 2006. Show times will be displayed upon entrance. Chocolate Volcano will erupt twice daily subject to truffle conditions. Normal entry conditions apply – prices from £23 per adult, £16 per child if booking online.
