During the Winter Weekends of 2006, the Cred Street Carousel and Vintage Cars remained mysteriously closed and soon it became clear that they were to be replaced by a ‘Driving School’, with construction taking place over the first half of the 2006 season.

The first images show the Cred Street Carousel and Vintage Cars awaiting removal to make way for the Driving School. Early ground clearance was presumably for the re-routed disabled access to Hex, with more major work then getting underway. The last few images show the area and buildings due to be used for Driving School, with markings on the floor near the old toyshop and up by the Gallopers Carousel, showing how far up Cred Street the new attraction would span.

Come the start of the summer, the Driving School was now taking shape with the theming elements starting to be installed, a new bridge across some of the road and buildings freshly painted. Pipes and cables were still being laid across the site, providing electrics for various effects around the attraction, such as the speakers in the tunnel. Included below are also images from The Source showing work on-site, Wacky Parking Cones in Tussauds Studios and one of the ride’s cars.

Here the ride is now complete, testing and ready to open to the public.
