The 2006/2007 Closed Season was a very active one at the
Towers. Two new restaurants were built, one in Fountain Square and
one in Forbidden Valley. It also saw the Dung Heap and Haunted
Hollow arrive at the park, and the Extraordinary Golf built at the
hotels.
Not only that but both Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and the
Riverbank Eye-Spy received revamps, as did many of the game units
when HB Leisure arrived at the park.
This was also the year the park adopted the new YourDay souvenir
option, where guests could buy a DVD of their day.
Today's update is
bought to you in the theme of a pinball machine, as we will bounce
backwards and forwards across the park. Talking of which...
Down in
Adventure Land Spinball Whizzer was receiving some maintenance,
seemingly focused on the block breaks...
...while
the Space Adventures play area was also getting some
closed season attention.
Meanwhile In Merrie England the bath tubs have returned to the Flume
(and everything is very blurry - I apologise for the quality)
And the
Haunted Hollow, was deathly quiet... possibly setting the ambiance
for the new attraction!! (Or maybe they were just working further
down)
To the
farm! And the Ribena Berry Bish Bash, but will it be sponsored by
Ribena for much longer? Possibly not!
But
enough of such things, what about the Dung Heap? Old MacDonald had
a
Dung Heap - E-I-E-I-O - and on
that
Dung Heap he had a...
Digger!
E-I-E-I-O with a... umm... well a
digger noise really. But what's that over there?
Ooh... behind
the pile of dirty we can see one of the old animal shelters which
used to sit in the paddock which is now home to the Dung Heap. But
was else is that is I see?
Oh look... it's
a crane... lifting into place the first piece of the playground.
Oh yes... the
Dung Heap has gone vertical people! Head for the hills!!!
And so to the
far side of the park, where in Fountains Square... the restaurant
looks much the same. They were working on it though!
Back to
Adventure Land now, where Forbidden Tattoos has now up and
left the Hospitality Suite...
But it's not
gone too far...
... it's just
waiting to return to Forbidden Valley for the new season.
In front of the
Towers a solitary games stand entertains the punters. And Bob the
Builder makes his return!
But enough of
that, 'To Towers Street', they cried, and some YourDay
Construction action...
As promised the
Mad Hatter has now left his shop, and all is ready for it's
conversion for 2007.
In the X Sector work continues on
Oblivion's queue line buildings....
And the path is
up in front of Re-Hydrator, as part of the X Sector path relaying
programme.
As well as
Oblivion, X-Cite was also open today for Towers, Treats and
Trails.
And finally in
X Sector we have Submission, where some work had
been going on today.
And now it's
time for our Cred Street moment of the day, where the
Driving School was receiving some TLC during its first closed
season.
And last but
not least, we're back at the farm, where there was much glee that
the chicken game was working once again!
