Closed Season Archive 2006/2007

The 2006/2007 Closed Season was a very active one at the Towers. Two new restaurants were built, one in Fountain Square and one in Forbidden Valley. It also saw the Dung Heap and Haunted Hollow arrive at the park, and the Extraordinary Golf built at the hotels.

Not only that but both Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and the Riverbank Eye-Spy received revamps, as did many of the game units when HB Leisure arrived at the park.

This was also the year the park adopted the new YourDay souvenir option, where guests could buy a DVD of their day.

Once again we return to the Towers, starting with a look at the YourDay Shop and the frogs.	A close look at the frogs reveals what look to be brand new lily pads, plus the fountains were working today.

And now for the second part of our tour of the Towers Street shops, starting with Chris Anthenum's Florist....	...And Roland Butter's Bakery....

Finally we have The Mad Hatter, who is soon to vacate his shop to allow YourDay to move in!!	A brief look at the Haunted Hollow, no construction work today, but the path edgings have now begun to appear!

From there let's take a wander through Merrie England, starting with the Splash Karts...	... which are all back in their lake ready for the new season.

The Flume is looking rather dry as a whole, no power showers today	Over under the Fast Track Canopy we find the controls for the Remote Controls Ducks, which can be seen in the distance in the Flume Queue Line.

Meanwhile the scenery for the Remote Control Ducks still floats in the lake.	The 3D Cinema looking a little lonesome.

And some of the game booths in Merrie England, which will this year be operated by HB Leisure.	More booths, ignore the names, the games inside are different, not a can or churn in sight!!

Katanga Canyon is all closed off for Towers, Treats and Trails but the waterfalls are still running!!	And a quick look over the Flume lake reveals the rapids boats lined up along the service road

Over in the Towers we get a blast from the past, as in the Chapel the old ticket booth for the Model Railway sits by the door.	Meanwhile over by the Star Garden a coffin sits, a reminder of Halloweens gone by.

Construction continues on the new Fountains Square Restaurant.	And so to the X Sector...

...where all the carriage are now reattached to the Enterprise...	... and some work is carried out on the picnic area by Oblivion.

Another quick look at Detonator Drop, where the back of the sideshow can be seen piled up alongside the Blackhole.	In Adventure Land the Beastie is now back on it's track after its winter maintenance.

Which brings us neatly to Old MacDonald's Farm, where the above sign will be at bit out of date in the new season...	...as construction is continuing on the Dung Heap. (That's not it on the right, that's more of a Soil Heap)

The sight is starting to shape up now...	... and it's quite large reaching all the way around the back of the Riverbank Eye Spy.

Another in our series of random farm buildings, this was probably the Pottery Studio at one time!	And over in the windmill out hunt for Adventure Land play equipment continues, , this week we have some tables...

however the crocodile we found last week has now moved as work continues on updating the Riverbank Eye Spy.	Good bye Alton Towers... if only there was some Easter based event for you to advertise...
