TowersTimes can reveal The Sanctuary is due to close on Sunday April 14th.

The news of the closure appeared on the official Alton Towers Resort website, stating “The Sanctuary – open until April 14th”. It was previously thought that The Sanctuary would remain open until May, when The Smiler finally opens.
The Sanctuary is a live action horror maze which debuted at last years Scarefest event. Based around events which relate to the theme of the upcoming new ride for 2013, The Smiler, The Alton Towers Resort took the opportunity to reopen the attraction for the start of the season as a teaser for the new ride.

With the opening weekend and the following weeks being more quiet than usual compared to previous years, The Sanctuary’s popularity was lower than expected. To counter this, Alton Towers updated the electronic queue line boards around the park with The Sanctuary’s opening and close times, and eventually installed two signs either side of the entrance outside the Towers complex. More recently, a large billboard was also added, ensuring all guests were aware of the scare maze’s presence. But after just under a month of operation, The Sanctuary is set to close its doors.
You’ve still got just under two weeks to catch The Sanctuary and take advantage of the ‘Double Joy‘ ticket offer the park has running. You save off regular admission and come back to ride The Smiler for only £1 extra!
