The Sanctuary – 2013 Details Announced

2017-02-26T15:48:03+00:00 March 11th, 2013|

The Sanctuary, which was first introduced as the brand new scare maze for the 2012 Scarefest, is returning for part of the 2013 season.

As the park reopens next Saturday for the beginning of the 2013 season, guests can check into The Sanctuary once again, for free.

Previously, The Sanctuary required a paid ticket to gain access to the maze, much like the mazes at previous Scarefests with the exception of Terror Of The Towers, which has always been free. This time however, guests will not be required to purchase a ticket to visit The Sanctuary which will be located inside the Towers as it was during the 2012 Scarefest season.

The Sanctuary invited guests into an operation by the Ministry of Joy who were looking for advocates for their latest project, which just so happens to be The Smiler. Alton Towers website says:

Book an appointment at The Sanctuary – the mind marmalising scare maze!
The Sanctuary has been closed to patients for almost 50 years, but appointments are now being taken at the newly opened establishment as a controlling force, known at The Minsistry of Joy launches a series of trials, recruiting advocates for its new 2013 project.

The Sanctuary is a free scare maze included in the cost of entrance to the Alton Towers Theme Park

Alton Towers are also offering a “Double Joy” ticket, which allows guests to enjoy The Sanctuary, and then to return to the resort to ride The Smiler for just £1 extra. The Alton Towers website says:

For a limited time only, visit and experience The Sanctuary at the Theme Park before May and you can return again after May to ride The Smiler – our biggest ever roller coaster for just £1 extra!

This limited offer is only available pre-booked online in advance by purchasing a Double Joy ticket – available now!
