Alton Towers to host 2012 Olympic Torch

The Coca-Cola Olympic Torch Tour will be stopping off at Alton Towers from Tuesday 23rd to Monday 29th August.

Travelling all around the country, the tour gives guests the opportunity to pose with the torch for the 2012 Olympics, as well as providing free cans of Coca-Cola from a distinctive red bus. Guests will also be offered the opportunity to “nominate a future flame”, giving people the opportunity to nominate candidates for carrying the sacred torch, a chance which will utlimately be offered to around eight thousand people.

The Olympic Torch will be returning to Stoke-on-Trent on 30th May 2012 for an evening celebration, and Stoke City Council are urging residents to ensure that leading members of the Stoke community are among the lucky few.

Last month the Torch Tour visited Thorpe Park, and many other iconic venues, and a full list of tour dates is available here.
