New for 2011: Skeleton Bay at Sharkbait Reef

2014-01-19T13:10:39+00:00 February 10th, 2011|

It has been revealed on www.altontowerstrips.com, a commercial partner of Alton Towers, that Alton Towers will be adding a new addition to the Sea Life attraction in Mutiny Bay, Sharkbait Reef.

Skeleton Bay will feature 12 giant Japanese Spider Crabs. In 2010, Sharkbait Reef was home to a small Japanese Spider Crab exhibit. The press release for the 2011 season suggests that the new exhibit will be themed for a shipwreck.

It is not yet known where the Spider Crabs will be placed in Sharkbait Reef, or if any other displays will be removed.

Although there will be no major attraction for the 2011 season it is expected that Alton Towers will have a number of outdoor concerts similar to 2010’s P!nk and the 80s concerts – celebrating the resort’s 30th birthday.

The news article on also confirms the dates for a number of other events:

February Half Term Event – 19th to 27th February

Scarefest Halloween Event – 15th to 31st October

Ultimate Fireworks Event – 4th to 6th November
