After a bumper open season, the full theme park has now closed its doors until 2009. With a newly themed attraction, more successful Scarefest event and increasing guest numbers, the park can now focus on the numerous new additions that will arrive at the resort next year.

Scarefest came to an end after just over two weeks at 9.00pm on Sunday evening (2nd November) along with Terror of the Towers, Duel Live, Boiler House and the Field of 1000 Screams. It is hoped most of these will make their return for Halloween in 2009.

It was also the end for a number of classic rides. Bouncing Bugs will be leaving the park this year, and it’s also the end of the classic Skyride Gondola’s and Cred Street! Ug Swinger will also be getting a makeover and, with the removal of Corkscrew coming soon, 2009 is set to be a very different Alton Towers!

Guests wishing to have a final ride on the biggest Alton Towers attractions, including Nemesis, Rita – Queen of Speed, Air and Oblivion are able to do so on Sunday, 9th November between 10.00am and 4.00pm as part of the goodbye event for the iconic Corkscrew rollercoaster, which will run for the final time in less than one week from now after over 28 years of operation. Hotel Guests and Annual Pass Holders are also able to access the park on Thursday 6th, Friday 7th and Saturday 8th November from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
