An updated version of the old fair ground ride. Passengers board their own seat, held by 4 chains. Once everyone's safely strapped in the central hub begins to spin and rise. At its greatest height the top hub begins to tilt. It’s a great ride, especially on a hot day. It’s rather like riding on a wave; hence it used to be called the Wave swinger.
In 1999 when Festival park was re-themed into Ug Land, the ride was also re-themed and re-named the Ug Swinger. In 2005 Ug Swinger moved it's position in Ug Land to make way for Rita - Queen Of Speed which now your feet just miss as she speeds past.
As you can see from these photographs the ride has been through 3 different looks and now I believe it looks the best it has ever done. As you queue up, the ride before you is still in progress, riders fly above you, dipping down then flying back towards the sky. This just warns you that it is not a small fair ground attraction. Once on the ride you find yourself sitting alone and all that holds you are four long chains, one last check to make sure you are safely strapped in and then your feet leave the floor. Slowly you rise and start to move forwards. After a few seconds you are going at full speed, you almost feel as if you’re flying.
