When arriving at Alton Towers by car you will be directed to a parking space, remember that you will have to pay a parking charge of £4 when leaving the car park, the tokens are available from various places, and the best place to buy the tokens is Towers Street. Annual pass holders park for free.
Getting from the car park to the theme park you have two choices. You can ether walk to Towers Street which is about a 1km walk, or catch the monorail from the station located in the main car park. The Monorail has been around since 1987; making use of this mode of transport will save you time and effort. Unless of course you’re staying in an Alton Towers Hotel, in which case you can use the garden walkway and enter the park through Forbidden Valley.
Once inside the park you may want to save time by catching the Sky Ride from Towers Street to ether Forbidden Valley or Cred Street. Be aware that the Sky Ride doesn’t open first thing in the mornings, so if you are making an early start and want to make the most of your day you will have to do quite a bit of walking.
In 2007 some of this walking will become an experience in
itself with the latest transportation attraction, The
Haunted Hollow, a haunted walk from Mutiny Bay to
Gloomy Wood.
