In 1997 Ripsaw replaced Thunder Looper in Forbidden Valley. The ride is essentially a Huss Top Spin with the added feature of 35 powerful water jets, which aim to soak the riders.
40 people are safely strapped into the gondola with over head harnesses and lap bars. The gondola is attached to two large arms which move together, riders are spun several times in the air and are dangled over the water fountains, which may soak them, depending how lucky they are.
The ride fits into the valley very well and is themed as a piece of shrapnel which was thrown out of the Nemesis pit, the rusty appearance means it matches the nearby Blade and is quite a contrast to Air.
Ripsaw is great on a hot day when you want to cool off, the fountains in your face has you spin around is amazing, however great British weather will probably mean you visit Alton Towers on a cold day, if so don't ride Ripsaw it will still drench you. Out of the 15 possible sequences 2 main ones are used, the most popular involves a few spins upside down and then several swings, ending in riders being plunged straight into the water, that is a really fun ride.
